AT CTPD: GOVERNMENT CALLS FOR ACTION-ORIENTED ENERGY SECTOR DIALOGUE

The Ministry of Energy has underscored the need for practical and results-driven engagement in addressing challenges facing Zambia’s electricity sub-sector.
In his speech read by Director Planning Mr. Sineva Kambenja during the National Dialogue on Zambia’s Energy Sector, Permanent Secretary-Electricity, Eng. Arnold Simwaba said the dialogue, facilitated by the Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD), comes at a critical time when the sector is grappling with supply constraints, financing gaps and governance challenges across key institutions.
He said the dialogue must move beyond discussion to deliver clear, actionable outcomes, including policy reforms, strengthened transparency and accountability, and prioritised investments in generation and transmission infrastructure.
He reiterated Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for reform and called for enhanced collaboration among stakeholders to unlock sustainable investment and improve the resilience of Zambia’s energy sector.
Several stakeholders including Member of Parliament (MPs) attended the national dialogue meeting.
