LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTRY COMMISSIONS K6.3 MILLION SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Gift Sialubalo, today commissioned a 112KWP solar power system at the Ministry headquarters aimed at reducing electricity costs and promoting alternative sources of energy.

The solar system, valued at K6.3 million, has been installed in response to the Presidential Directive encouraging institutions to adopt renewable and sustainable sources of power.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Mr Sialubalo said the project demonstrates Government’s commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and reducing dependence on conventional electricity supply.

The newly commissioned system comprises 246 solar panels rated at 610 watts each and is expected to significantly contribute to lowering the Ministry’s electricity expenditure while ensuring a more reliable power supply.
